After all the posts I’ve published since I started back blogging again, I have yet to write about HIKING.
It’s, simply put, my obsession.
I’ve never obsessed over anything.
Wait, that’s a lie. Brownie Fudge Ben & Jerry’s. Yes, I obsess over that.
I finally got a great hike in at Telegraph Pass Trail in Yuma, Arizona.
In my last post I introduced Jan to you and that we had one thing on our mind – HIKING.
Hiking Telegraph Pass Trail
After a relaxing Friday hanging out in Yuma with Jan and her hubby, Vic, we made plans to hit the trail on Saturday.
Yuma is not a hiking town; you won’t find find a trail to hike within a 15 mile radius. Yes, there are actually great walking trails within town but I like a true hiking location. We ended up 17 miles out of town to Telegraph Pass Trail. The drive took us 30 minutes.
I’ll admit it’s not the prettiest trail and it was crowded but it sure did give us some great views and a strong butt workout!
The trail is an out and back. The first 1/2 (about 2.5 miles) is an incline that gets more steep as you hike. Needless to say, the way back is all decline. Be ready for a butt and thigh workout! As well as some strain on your knees. (I’m starting to feel the pressure of hiking on my knees.)
The peak has great views of the valley below. And there’s a trail log book to sign in that you made it up that mountain!
Also at the top are many huge towers. I know nothing about the types of towers exist but I assume these were cell and radio towers. I also assume this is where the trail got it’s name “Telegraph”.
I use the AllTrails app to find and track my hikes. To learn more about hiking Telegraph Pass Trail click here to go to AllTrails.
