Moving Day, But Not Really
Normally moving day for me and my RV, aka Minnie Rambles, is getting to another boondocking location out in nature but not today.
8 AM.
I had all great intentions of getting me and Minnie Rambles to a camp site near Catalina, AZ where I’d meet Hunter for, you guessed it, great convo and laughter. (If you don’t know what I’m referring to check out my post on meeting Hunter and Artemis.)
The day started out perfect! It was warm, with a beautiful sunrise – one of the best I’ve ever seen!
I cruised from Pump Station Road Dispersed where I was camped over to Marana, Arizona. My goals today was :
- get fresh groceries
- work at Starbucks on my blog using their Wi-Fi
- dump my tanks
- get propane
- meet with Hunter to camp with her
No biggy, I could get all this done then meet up with Hunter later in the day.
Nope.
I was originally going to hit Walmart for some things I needed, including groceries, yet on the way I noticed a Safeway grocery store. I like Safeway so I stopped there instead of Walmart. As I walked in I noticed a Starbucks in the store! Squeal! I can work here too!
Nope.
The Starbucks in Safeway shut down it’s seating area. I guess I won’t be working at the Safeway Starbucks. Bummer.
Grabbed the fresh food I needed.
Groceries off my list I proceeded to search out another Starbucks. No problem, another one was 3 miles away.
11 AM.
Arriving at the shopping center Starbucks was located I was fortunate to park in a large dirt lot all to myself, just the way I like it.
I grabbed an iced mocha and worked for a few hours, sitting with my back to waiting customers as to not get distracted by my people watching habit, lol.
Feeling satisfied with the amount and quality of the work I just finished I headed back to the RV for lunch.
This is when I realized Walmart shared the same parking lot, now I have to go in for those couple of items I needed.
Done.
Back to the RV.
3 PM.
This is when I started to poop out. When you wake at 5 AM your day tends to end around 3 PM. Plus it started raining – this made me very relaxed. There’s no way I feel like dumping the tanks and driving about 45 minutes to hopefully find a spot near Hunter. Crap, I don’t want to drive back to Pump Station, I wanted a new spot to camp. Luckily for me there’s a Cracker Barrel 3 driving minutes away!! I can stay overnight AND get Chicken and Dumplings!
I contacted Hunter about actually meeting up with her tomorrow. She was cool with the change of plans – whew!
5 PM.
Here I sit, moving only 30 minutes from one of my favorite boondocking locations, in a Cracker Barrel parking lot off highway 10, listening to the sounds of rushing traffic, enjoying chicken and dumplings.
It’s an ok ending to today.
Tomorrow I’ll dump the tanks early and head out for another adventure with Minnie Rambles.
Sounds perfect to me!!!
