Up, Up and Up the Colorado Trail to the Clouds
I thought “slackpacking”, aka taking a smaller backpack or daypack for the day instead of the large backpack with all your overnight gear, was the lazy way to walk the trail … I was wrong.
For this section of the Colorado Trail we decided to take lighter gear, it seemed many hikers were doing that. Why? This was a gonna be a CLIMB to the ridge overlooking Breckenridge on one side and Copper Mountain the other!
Taking my leftover pizza and lighter gear, we began our assent.
I’m terrified of heights and the trail was testing me a bit this day. That picture above on the left shows a steep drop-off that I’m not too fond of. I almost ran this part of the trail down.
I did it and the views were well worth it!!
Hanging out for a bit with some other awesome hikers at the top was such fun! Sharing stories about our outdoor adventures is always a blast, and comical at times.
