JULY 2, 2021 COLORADO TRAIL // DAY 5
Random Campsite – South Platt River//23.3 – 16.5 Segment 2
I’m Walking on Sunshine on the Colorado Trail!
Waking on Day 5 on the CT there was not a cloud to be seen in the sky! Big difference from the day before on the Colorado Trail.

I rang out my socks of the excess water from the rain the day before, put on my wet clothes, packed up camp and we started our hiking day.
This section of the CT was very noticeably different than what we experienced before – it had been hit by fire in previous years. The landscape was mostly void of trees for miles!
The wildflowers, butterflies and hummingbirds were numerous! There’s always a positive to witness in nature!

I ended that day with a great foot soak in the S Platt River and a ride back to the Denver area from Candace’s trail angel hubby, Brent, for 2 zeroes over 4th of July weekend. He brought us an amazing spread to feast on!! Check it out on Instagram.
I haven’t mentioned this yet but we had a great trail buddy with us! Candace’s 10 year old son joined us for the last few days of hiking. He was such a trooper and brightened the harder moments on trail!
Thank You for Stopping By!
