MUST READ : My Colorado Trail Journey

Cloud Meadow Morning

This was my favorite morning on trail!!

I woke super early with quite a full bladder (because, of course, if I leave my tent at 2am to “see a tree” something will eat me, lol, so I wait until sunrise). But I was thankful that morning for my fear and procrastination because…

The valley meadow we slept in was covered in mist!!!

Candace, my hiking partner, called it “inverted clouds” and they covered the valley leaving the tops of the mountains surrounding us exposed. It was a beautiful sight!

The clouds didn’t stay long and neither did we. We filled up on water and started our day of forest walking.

Why Are They Called The “Rockies”?

This was the day I realized how the Colorado Rockies got their name – the trails here have a lot of rocks!! Pretty simple naming system, huh?

Trail rocks quickly became the norm hiking in Colorado. They make for a slightly treacherous walk, if you’re not careful your ankle bone may just find rock.

A great day hiking on the Colorado Trail ends with a good foot soak in the creek at camp, warm bean soup and chill in my tent taking in the quiet breeze through the trees.

I’m Allie and I live in my RV full time looking for beautiful places to hike, bike and eat! Happy Trails!
