Broke but Hopeful: My Exciting Future as an RV Nomad

Midlife blog

Never give up on your dreams. I’m 52. Broke. And heartbroken. But I’m still chasing my dreams of travel.

Welcome, I’m Allie. I’ve been living full time on the road since 2020. These are my memories as I travel.

Taking My Life Back and Planning for a Travel Future

It’s an exciting time in my life for me – I’m solo again and looking forward to new adventures!

I’m in a big transition from having a partner for 3 1/2 years and living on the road with him in a travel trailer to being solo, homeless and broke.

But I was reflecting back last night to all the big transitions in my life – heading to college, getting married, having kids and now starting over in my 50s. I’ve done this before yet not to this extreme. Some would call it a “crisis” of sorts. Like a “midlife crisis”.

But I prefer “midlife journey.”

It also occurred to me this will be only the second time in my life I’m ALONE doing my thing. The first time was 4 years ago when I set out in my Class C as freshly minted RV nomad. That solo time only lasted 6 months because I met my now ex-boyfriend six months later.

I truly enjoyed being solo and it’s time to explore who Allie truly is. Highs, lows and everything in between!

Starting My Midlife Journey Alone

Come with me on the trek to find myself at 52 years old. I’ll be honest, I’m terrified. I’m literally starting over with no vehicle, no income, and no savings. But I’ve got support from the wonderful people in my life and the strong will to get out and travel again.

Watch the first installment of my comeback story below.

Thank You for Stopping By!

I’m Allie. At 48 I set out solo to live in my RV. That journey is on hold but my passions for hiking and living well in my 50s still live on! Join me below for more inspiration and adventures. We’re older but even stronger!

And as always, thank you for coming by! That’s the kindest way to support!
