Somewhere Outside Tucson

Yesterday was a travel day yet like always I only moved a few miles over to a nearby public lands. But this move was different, I wasn’t gonna be solo camping!

Where did I camp the night before? Check out the AMAZING sunset there!

Meeting Another Nomad Woman and She’s Cool!

I’m an introvert so it’s pretty hard for me to meet people, especially fellow women nomads, on the road.

One, I’m always making sure my safety comes first, there are times I barely leave the RV to not show I’m solo.

Two, well, as stated, I’m an introvert and small talk is very difficult for me to grasp. I simply don’t know what to say to strangers beyond “amazing weather we’re having” or “can I meet your dog?”.

So when I meet fellow nomad woman it’s like I found a treasure! It’s not easy to meet other women out here, they too watch out for their safety, and I found that they too tend to stay indoors.

Meeting My Future Sister-Friend Hunter

I was fortunate to meet Hunter last year at Kofa Natural Refuge, Arizona! She had just finished her hike and was chillin’ in the parking lot. I had also just finished hiking. But hiking wasn’t what brought us together – it was her dog, Artemis.

Sweet Artemis, the Golden Retriever, was doing her dog thing, you know, sniffing and exploring when I spied her. I HAD to meet her! I asked Artemis’ human if I could meet her, I was delighted that the answer was “for sure”. Artemis was a little leery and didn’t want to approach so I started talking to her human, Hunter.

We just seemed to hit off! She loves hiking. I love hiking. She’s a female nomad. I’m a female nomad!!

Exchanging Instagram handles we moved on our merry, separate ways yet stayed in contact.

Camping with Hunter and Artemis in Arizona

Fast forward to this last month when I was cruising around southern Arizona for the winter and guess what? So was Hunter!

Hunter works remotely in Arizona. She lives out of her Jeep with her dog, Artemis. For about a month we worked on triagulating our locations so we could camp together. Once I hit southern Arizona we were able to meet up.

It was like we were old buddies catching up as we sat in my RV enjoying pasta and deep conversation. Hunter mentioned to me before heading off to bed that we sat and spoke for 13 hours!! Holy cow! It surely didn’t feel that long!

I love our sister-friend connection.

After sleeping for just a few hours we were back up in the morning sharing more stories over coffee and eggs. The sky was blue and the sun shone bright, we decided to take a walk down a couple dirt roads.

I forgot how much I loved walking with a dog, they’re so happy to explore!

That day Hunter and I became great friends. We simply listened and enjoyed each other’s company. Did I mention she hypnotize me?

I had never been hypnotized. The idea scares me and, I’ll admit, I don’t truly believe in it. But Hunter is qualified to hypnotize and figured it would at the very least be fun and relaxing.

My hypnotic session was quite the opposite of fun and relaxing.

The session lasted about 2 1/2 hours. At first it was a pleasant trip into what felt like “dreamland” then it turned serious as I seemed to remember or bring up my subconscious thoughts. They weren’t negative but felt revealing. Whether I was taken back in my past life or shown what I feel deep inside, the images were real enough to help me examine my life – past, present and future.

Being hypnotized was fun yet exhausting.

Between the long, deep convos with Hunter and the hypnosis session, I’d be willing to say we bonded.

The next morning we moved on. I needed to empty my tanks, get propane and fresh food. Hunter needed to work.

I’m happy to say we did see each other again.
