Though the fault didn’t fall to me I couldn’t help but feel I failed when I got off the Arizona Trail back in March 2020. I had started and stopped so many projects and hobbies in my past, I just didn’t want to add to my failure list.

We had finished 76 miles of the 800 plus AZT trek when we jumped off trail due to a global pandemic. The decision was not taken lightly since we all came from many distances to tackle the challenge of a thru-hike.

Luck would have it I was able to get back on trail in May 2020 to backpack the Arizona Trail again for 3 amazing days!
Then in June 2020 Jan came down from Wyoming to join me on an AZT adventure near Flagstaff, AZ!
For an introvert like me solo hiking has its perks, but there’s always something magical about going with a buddy. And this buddy was the original person to get me on the Arizona Trail back in March – Jan.
